Ohio's home sales heat up in July Aug 21, 2019
The number of homes sold across Ohio in July rose from the pace set during the month a year ago, posting a 2.8 percent increase, according to Ohio REALTORS. "Home sales activity heated up in July, helping the marketplace keep pace with the year-to-date sales activity from a year ago," said Ohio REALTORS President Anjanette Frye. "Equally important, the market posted a continued, steady rise in the average sale price, an indication that buyers understand that housing is a solid, long-term investment." July's average home price of $206,660 reflects a 7.7 percent increase from the $191,927 mark posted during the month last year. Sales in July reached 15,439, a 2.8 percent increase from the 15,025 sales recorded during the month a year ago. Through the first seven months of the year, sales activity has nearly matched the level posted in 2018. Sales from January through July reached 87,355, a negligible 0.2 percent decline from the 2018 rate of 87,563 sales. Around the state, 15 of the 18 markets tracked reported upswings in average sales price in July, while 10 posted gains in sales activity. Data provided to Ohio REALTORS by Multiple Listing Services includes residential closings for new and existing single-family homes and condominiums/co-ops. Ohio REALTORS, with more than 32,000 members, is the largest professional trade association in Ohio.
